Fluocinolone acetonide oil ear drops (DermOtic Oil, Hill Dermaceuticals): The 0.01% otic formulation is indicated for the treatment of chronic eczematous external otitis.
Metformin hydrochloride extended-release tablets (Glumetza; Biovail and King): The tablets, which are to be taken once daily, are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients age 18 years or older with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Quinine sulfate capsules (Qualaquin, Mutual): The prescription-only product, containing 324 mg of drug, is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria.
Tamoxifen citrate oral solution (Soltamox; Savient and Cytogen): The sugar-free solution, flavored with licorice and anise seed, is indicated for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in men and women, the adjuvant treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women, reduction in the risk of invasive breast cancer in women, and reduction in the incidence of breast cancer in women at high risk for breast cancer in the next five years. Each 5 mL of the solution contains 15.2 mg of tamoxifen citrate, equivalent to 10 mg of tamoxifen.
